My ultimate guide for protection against the coronavirus.
Part 2
- Do not leave your house if you feel any of the Covid-19 symptoms I mentioned above even if they are mild, isolate yourself as best as possible from your own family members who may be at risk because of the closeness to you. It is better to be safe than sorry later, right. Stay away from others who exhibit any symptoms of being sick. Call 911 or your local health care provider if you start to feel severe symptoms, follow their instructions on how to handle yourself. Do not go to any public hospital or clinic yourself because most likely they are already overwhelmed with cases they are trying to manage. Calling first lets individuals who need it receive the care they require as soon as possible. It also ensures that you do not infect others on the way and while waiting to get treated. It limits your possible exposure to this disease.
- If you feel like you must cough or sneeze while outdoors, please do it into your elbow or arm away from others. Cover your mouth with something that you have a napkin, towel, tissue etc…Anything is better than coughing or sneezing into the air possibly putting the virus out there for others to inhale. If you do cough or sneeze into a napkin or tissue, please discard it in a closed garbage bin right after use to not get others sick. This virus spreads when people who are infected cough, sneeze, talk or even breathe too close to you. It can also be spread when someone touches something and then another person goes and touches that same object after, then touches their face.
- Do not ever spit in public as you may spread bacteria that way also.
- If you do leave your house avoid groups or crowds of 3 people or more just to be safe. Do not go to public areas where people tend to gather such as parks. All it takes is for you to be near an infected person to become ill. Take extra measures and precautions to distance yourself from others. Keep at least a 3-foot distance with you and the closest person outside and wear a face mask.
- Please practice healthy habits such as washing your hands frequently (for 20 seconds) with soap and warm water. Use hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol if you cannot wash your hands while out.
- Make sure to clean and disinfect any areas at work or at home you use daily as required.
- When you go to the grocery store make sure to buy at least a week or two supply of food and beverages. This is to ensure you have enough and don’t have to keep running back to the store so often, which is not recommended. Each time you leave your house is an added chance you may get this virus, so be smart about what you are getting. Try and stick to canned goods and frozen veggies/fruits that can be stored. Almond milk lasts longer than regular milk. Don’t forget about essentials like toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, diapers for the baby and anything else that you know will be needed. Try Resist from panic shop buying huge amounts of items/products, save some for others who may need them more than you. Also don’t forget to clean and disinfect any reusable bags you use for groceries. You can wash them with soap and water in the shower and some of them can even be thrown in the laundry for a good clean. When you are using grocery bags that can be used again, make sure to keep them in a separate area. Away from other clothes or belongings around the house, in order to limit the spread of any germs they may be carrying. If possible, keep these bags in a black plastic garbage bag and continue wiping them off until your next usage.
- Make sure you have a first aid kit at home in case of emergency and keep that thermometer handy if you develop a fever of any sort.
- If someone gets sick in your house, make sure you know what room they are going to be in and what they are using so you can separate everything. This is crucial to stop the spread of the virus in your own family. Someone else should clean the stuff that is being used with protective cover around their mouth, nose, and eyes always and wash those hands right after.
- IMPORTANT!! DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE OUTSIDE AT ALL OR BEFORE WASHING YOUR HANDS FIRST, RIGHT AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM OUTSIDE. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE FROM OTHERS WHILE OUT ANYWHERE BECAUSE YOU DON’T KNOW WHO MAY BE INFECTED. KEEPING YOUR HANDS CLEAN IS THE BEST DEFENSE AGAINST THIS VIRUS BY FAR.
